Private Label Himalayan Salt Products
Private label turns a commodity into a brand. With salt it is unusually
approachable, because the raw material is stable and the packaging carries most
of the value.
What works as private label
- Retail grinders and shakers — the highest-margin entry point.
- Bath salts and scrubs — packaging-led, easy to differentiate.
- Gift sets — a block, a grinder and a lamp travel well together.
- Salt lamps — branded box and care card; the crystal itself is the product.
- Cooking blocks — branded sleeve and printed heating instructions.
Realistic minimums
Minimums are driven by the packaging supplier, not by the salt. Printed pouches,
labels and cartons all have their own run lengths.
| Product | Typical MOQ |
|---|---|
| Retail grinder, printed label | 3,000–5,000 units |
| Bath salt pouch, printed | 2,000–3,000 units |
| Lamp with branded box | 500–1,000 units |
| Cooking block with sleeve | 500 units |
Below those numbers, a generic pack with an applied label is almost always
the better economics — and it lets you test the market before committing to
printed stock.
The process
- Brief — product, size, target retail price, destination market.
- Spec — grade, granulation, packaging format and barrier.
- Artwork — you supply print-ready files; we confirm dielines and any
- Pre-production sample — one physical unit, exactly as it will ship.
- Approval — sign off the sample in writing; this is the moment to change
anything.
- Production — 3–5 weeks depending on packaging lead time.
- Inspection and shipment.
Budget 8–12 weeks end to end for a first private-label run. Repeat orders,
with artwork already tooled, run at roughly half that.
Where costs actually sit
For a retail grinder, the salt is often the smallest line on the cost sheet.
Packaging, printing, filling labour and freight typically dominate. That is
useful to know when you negotiate: shaving cents off the salt price rarely moves
your landed cost, but changing a jar to a pouch might.
Protecting your brand
- Register your artwork and trademarks in your own market.
- Keep a retained sample from every production lot.
- Ask for lot traceability on the invoice, so a customer complaint maps to a
specific run.
